Frequently Asked Questions

What is shamanism?

Shamanism is an ancient spiritual and healing practice found in cultures worldwide. With a unique ability to interact with the spirit world, shamanic practitioners address spiritual, emotional, and physical imbalances. With origins dating back tens of thousands of years, shamanism is believed to be one of the oldest spiritual practices in the world, predating any known religion. It's important to note that shamanism is not a religion; instead, it is a practice of direct revelation. Shamanism encompasses diverse practices and beliefs that vary significantly across cultures and geographic regions, but one core universal practice is shamanic journeying.

How important is being open to shamanic healing and experiences during the journey?

Before seeking healing, you must feel comfortable with both shamanic healing and the potential knowledge you may gain. I do not work with anyone who is uncomfortable or needs convincing that this is right for them. An open and receptive mind is crucial for a successful healing experience. It might be best to wait if you're not in a state of mind that is receptive to healing. This work can bring up difficult truths about ourselves and our situations. Sometimes, returned soul parts may carry back memories of the trauma that caused them to fragment in the first place. Your willingness to work with the profound insights gained through the journey in a receptive manner will determine how deeply you can be healed.

Is shamanic healing safe?

Shamanic healing is a safe modality when practiced responsibly and with integrity. Working with a qualified and experienced practitioner who upholds ethical conduct, honesty, and integrity is crucial.

Are there any contraindications or situations where shamanic healing may not be appropriate?

Some examples of contraindications are medical conditions requiring urgent medical attention or individuals not open to participating in the process. Shamanic healing should never be considered a substitute for urgent medical attention. In addition, I will never work with anyone who expects me to convince them of its efficacy. How open your mind is has a significant impact on the success of the session.

What does a shamanic practitioner do?

Shamanic practitioners provide healing sessions to address physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual imbalances. Shamanic journeying is a fundamental practice for communicating with spirit guides, retrieving information, and performing healing work. Techniques such as energy healing and soul retrieval can be utilized. Practitioners also manipulate subtle energies to clear blockages, balance chakras, and restore harmony to the energy field. Seasoned shamanic practitioners serve as teachers and mentors, drawing upon ancient wisdom, intuitive insights, and spiritual guidance to help support their clients.

Is it possible to perform work on someone without their knowledge?

An ethical shamanic practitioner will only work on someone with their knowledge and permission. Ethical conduct, honesty, and integrity are fundamental qualities. I highly recommend you work with someone who will operate with transparency, respect, and humility that honors the sacredness of their work and the trust placed in them by their clients.

Do you use Ayahuasca or other plant medicine when you journey?

I do not use or need to use any substances while I journey on your behalf.  I am able to bring myself into altered states of consciousness naturally.

What can I do to prepare for a shamanic healing session?

Many clients experience significant healing after just one session, while most can benefit from multiple sessions, three being my typical recommendation. However, the number of sessions needed varies depending on each individual's specific circumstances, the nature of the issues being addressed, and their receptivity to the healing process.

What is shamanic journeying?

Shamanic journeying is a spiritual practice found in many cultures worldwide. It involves entering into an altered state of consciousness to communicate with spirit guides, retrieve information, or perform healing work. It's considered one of the core techniques of Shamanism. A shamanic practitioner will visualize traveling to the spirit world and encountering spirit guides or other beings. They seek answers and insights and engage with their guides to perform healing work, including removing energetic blocks and soul retrieval. After completing the journey, they return to ordinary consciousness and report their experiences.

What is soul retrieval?

When a person experiences trauma, it is believed that a part of their soul may fracture or dissociate from their primary consciousness as a way of coping. This is called soul loss or fragmentation. It's a survival mechanism during traumatic experiences. Sometimes, the loss of a soul fragment can create a void within the individual, making them vulnerable to unwanted influences or illnesses. Other times, the lost fragment could be an essential part of the person's true being, leading to a lifelong quest to reclaim it through unhealthy behaviors. Soul loss can happen during childhood or at any stage of life and for various reasons. Shamanic practitioners journey into alternate realms to locate, heal, and bring back those soul parts to their clients for integration. Soul retrieval is a profound healing practice essential for restoring oneself to wholeness.

How do I know if shamanic healing is right for me?

I encourage you to trust your intuition and inner guidance and examine your intentions and readiness to engage in whatever your journey may reveal or bring up. If you are reading this, there's a good chance this is meant for you! Trust your instincts and only seek this type of healing if you are truly ready for it.

What ongoing support or practices are provided after a shamanic healing session?

The post-journey process involves two crucial elements: 1) understanding the healing that occurred during the journey and 2) integrating that healing. In the integration phase, you play an active role in your own healing journey, empowering yourself to take control of the healing process.
